Images of Chapel Porth Beach and Wheal Charlotte Moor, taken from coastal paths.
December
The view of the coastline in a northerly direction from Mulgram Hill, near Porthtowan. Chapel Porth Beach is below and joins with Porthtowan Beach at low tide. The promontory in the distance is St Agnes Head. The surviving buildings of the former Wheal Coates tin mine lie on the cliff to the upper right. The most prominent one is the Towanroath Shaft engine house, which pumped water from the adjacent shaft.
The engine house of the former Great Wheal Charlotte copper mine. When I took this image, only this wall and door arch remained.
Spoil heaps on Wheal Charlotte Moor.
A closer look at the mining waste.
The cliff tops at Mulgram Hill and Wheal Charlotte Moor look very bleak and barren in December.
